Amor é fogo que arde sem se ver;

É ferida que dói e não se sente;

É um contentamento descontente;

É dor que desatina sem doer;

Luis Vaz de Camões

Oh, vernacular which has penetrated the intellect

And has caused an amount of thoughts .

The last flower of Latium we have gathered

From the Roman Empire and spread it abroad.

Poems, novels, essays and philosophical treatises

Have already been written in such a graceful vernacular,

But a more impressive fact which makes it so singular

Is that we keep on listening to beautiful verses increasing!

The genius of form

Who was able to compose

The most beautiful verses!

The one who was born

To mix sound and taste

And produce the most delicious

Vernacular cakes

The one whose geniality

Worth more than a billion coins

And whose name itself is poetry

An old and good iambic: Camões!

Luís Vaz de Camões as Camoens or Camoëns, is considered Portugal‘s and the Portuguese language’s greatest poet. His mastery of verse has been compared to that of ShakespeareVondelHomerVirgil and Dante.

The only thing I could say

Is that you can’t stop anyway.

Even if your power falls on the ground

Stand up, go ahead, and look around.

Soon you’ll see that nobody is ready

Rather, there is no one complete and steady!

Thus, the prize for being so narrow-minded

May guide your happiness to complete darkness.

It does not matter who you are

‘Cause, for culture you’re always incomplete

So, bear in mind:

Your body and soul are so graceful

That, if only for a moment you could comprehend,

You’d be peaceful and kind!

Day by day!

When Death definitely comes, I will not be nervous

‘Cause it actually comes a little bit day after day.

What I should do is respectfully accept it, by the way

It is not the end, since such term is totally ambiguous.

When the Knight of Lord comes to gather my soul

My life will have been entirely lived

And at the same way I have accepted to exist

I should happily receive the fate to come and go.

A last piece of advice

For those who want to stay

And ignorantly do not see a way:

Live your life intensely

And gather the fruits of your harvest.

Do not turn your existence to the hardest.

Forget the fear and move!

Be happy, ‘cause, out of the blue

The Almighty will know what to do!

It’s said that humans are at the top of the world

It has not been the truth since long time ago.

Even the smallest being has its strength,

Some force which emerges from their soul.

Such power cannot be seen

Then, we underestimate it along the road.

So, what we usually do is ignore it

And we carry on making mistakes though.

The problem is that the planet is suffering

And we might not have a second chance

It doesn’t matter how much we fight

How much we are being intense,

If we don’t recognize the power of tiny acts

We may suffer from our ignorance.

Carpe Diem!

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

If, by Rudyard Kipling

We are usually so worried about daily tasks that we do not pay attention to the opportunities which the universe provides us with.

If your mind is one second further and you do not live the here and the now, you might lose the most precious moments of your life.

It is extremely important to make the most of your time, in order not to regret in the future.

So, enjoy your existence!

Todos esses que aí estão
Atravancando meu caminho,
Eles passarão…
Eu passarinho.

Poeminho do contra, Mário Quintana.

Quem é você?

Não sei responder ao certo, mas eu sei dizer quem você não é.

Não és a dormência que te impuseram;

Não és os muros que construíram ao teu redor;

Não és o medo do invisível!

Não és o sucesso que te prometeram em troca da vitória alheia.

Não és herói, nem vilão.

És apenas humano, o que já é um começo.

Living or existing?

“To be or not to be:

That’s the question.”

From Hamlet, by Shakespeare.

From the boarders of time and infinite

Something raises.

Certain voice which proclaims out loud,

Lost in the mind mazes.

It’s hard to hear such voice

With clear precision,

Once the layers of perception

Have blurred our inner vision.

Then, if in a moment of catharsis

You could hear

Clearly enough to understand,

Wisdom would surely appear

Your soul would comprehend

At least

And you would start to

Live, not only exist.

On the importance of daily love.

“[…] I was a child and she was a child,

In this kingdom by the sea:

But we loved with a love that was more than love –

With a love that the wiged seraphs of heaven

Coveted her and me. […]

Annabel Lee, by Edgar Allan Poe

I have always thought that the purest human feeling is the maternal love. Imagine a being who comes from you, and IN GENERAL is generated by LOVE. Why wouldn’t you love him or her?

Another pure expression of love is the one felt by children, because they don’t have the ego filters which usually contaminate our true SELF.

A good example is the felling experienced by Anabel Lee’s lover, which is pure and innocent. Even though, the time and its vicissitudes keep on stealing and breaking our lives apart, it is our important task to carry on trying, no matter the circumstances.

Death will come, and is there a solution to such a cruel certainty? I have no absolute anwer but daily love, despite the difficulties.

The Laughing Heart by Charles Bukowski

your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is light somewhere […]

Charles Bukowski

I really like these lines by Charles Bukowski.

The circumstances of life can’t be the cause of happiness, otherwise we could be “clubbed into dank submission”. So, “be on the watch” or be in the here and in the now.

“There is light somewhere” or rather, get to know that “somewhere” is your own mind.

“Be on the watch”…

These are my humble impressions!
